Sunday Sevens #20

You might have notice I’ve been pretty quiet lately – I’ve been away on holiday, but more of that in the week. Today is Sunday, so here’s my seven (or so) photos of my week away from the blog.

Last Sunday I made a free motion embroidery card for the arrival of our lovely new great nephew.

If you’re in Europe I’m sure you’re aware we’ve been having a bit of a heatwave. However here in the south west of England the heat was accompanied by a very strong wind.  So strong on Wednesday it broke my rotary dryer…

…and on Thursday we woke  to a lawn full of leaves…

Focusing on the positive, the high temperature and strong wind were ideal for drying Harry’s toys (on my temporary washing line) after they’d had a trip round in the washing machine…

Our garden has gone wild while we’ve been away, so I’ve put a good few hours gardening in this week – but there’s still plenty to do…

I’ve also spent a fair part of the week helping organise our village fair. The Lydford Dash is part of this. Anyone local fancy taking part?

I also got on with a job I’ve been avoiding; tidying the utility. In it I found these tools from our now broken Dyson vacuum cleaner. They’ve never been used, but it seems so wasteful just to throw them away. Any  thoughts on how I can recycle them?

Away from chores we went for a walk in Bellever forest on Saturday…

Followed by lunch at The Two Bridges. Lovely spot, but unfortunately the food really let it down…

Hope you’ve had a great week.

Until next time,

Sunday Sevens 2019 #12

Welcome to my Sunday Sevens, a post where I share seven – or more – photos of my week away from the blog.

Last Sunday was absolutely freezing. Not only was it only 4 degrees, there was a bitter wind that made it feel even colder. However, wrapped up warm, we still had a lovely walk in Belever Forest – such a beautiful place untouched by modern development…

I spotted a stone circle I’ve never seen before…

… and Lovely husband hugged his favourite tree…

Sunday evening we decided to warm ourselves by going out for a curry…

Another meal out Monday: lunch with the friends at Church Lane in Tavistock…

Wednesday was Lovely Husband’s birthday. I made him a cake – which I always find a challenge in an aga with no baking oven. There just isn’t a shelf that’s the right temperature. It spent most of the time on a shelf that was a little too cold then a short time on one that was too hot.

Thursday evening was knitting group at Lydford House Hotel, where one of the hotel guests visiting from Australia joined us with her embroidery…

After a cold and windy start to the week, the temperature had risen by Friday to 20.5 degrees. So Friday’s walk with Harry in Abbeyford Woods was absolutely perfect…

Of course the minutes us Brits see the slightest shaft of sunshine we bring out the BBQ…

Sitting out in the garden in the sunshine is also a great time to do a bit of bird spotting…

The hot weather also meant we could give Harry a full wash…

Followed by the first haircut I’ve given him…

With such a smart doggie we just had to take him out to mark the occasion at our local.

Hope you’ve had a great week, it’s truly been a lovely one here.

Sunday Sevens – 15th October

Joining in again this week with Sunday Sevens – started by Nathalie at Threads and Bobbins – sharing seven (or so) pictures of  the week beyond the blog.

It’s been a very much a stay at home week this week, with a few jaunts out locally. I went up to Bellever Forest with a friend and walked through the stone circles…

Sunday Sevens – 26th June

Time for another Sunday Sevens – the brainchild of the wonderful Nat at Thread and Bobbins  devised for bloggers to share seven photos of their personal week.

  1. I’ve had a busy week trying to get on top of the every day stuff. However living on Dartmoor means that even the everyday can be amazing. On Wednesday Mr Hicks and I took a new path on the moor and found not one, but three stone circles we’d never seen before.

Sunday Sevens – 5th June

Crikey! June already. Another Sunday arrives so quickly and time again for Sunday Sevens. Sunday Sevens is the brainchild of the wonderful Nat at Thread and Bobbins  devised for bloggers to share seven photos of their personal week. This one has been full of lovely sunshine – summer is finally here 🙂 Although who knows how long for?

  1. Last Sunday we had a last day with our lovely daughters before they headed up country.

2. Monday was a bank holiday, so we took a leisurely stroll to Bellever  Tor…

Even the granite rocks look different when it’s dry.

3. … and down through the forest…

4. Returning to the carpark, this plastic lizard made us laugh.

5. On Wednesday I went to Chudleigh, where it turned out to be ‘Love Chudleigh week’. I found a lovely young lady by the ticket machine in the carpark who insisted in paying for my car parking.

6. A lovely gesture, but what I loved most about Chudleigh, was the name of this dog groomers…

7. On Thursday the plaster was dry around the aga, so the ceiling and walls could be painted….

8. Thursday evening we had a pizza party at my house to celebrate our book group’s fifth birthday…

9.  … which meant cold pizza for lunch on Friday – yum!

10. Yesterday we went into into Exeter  When I asked where the changing rooms were in John Lewis – yep, that’s how rarely I shop for clothes – the lovely lady I asked turn our to be the personal shopper, who had had a cancelation that morning. So she  put me in the personal shopping changing room and kept returning to bring me new  sizes and new clothes to match what I liked.

11. Finally we rounded the week off with an impromptu BBQ with our lovely next door neighbours…

Opps! More than seven photos, but all in all it’s been a fabulous week. Let’s just hope the sunshine stays for another one.
