Knitting Progress

I’ve just check and it turns out I haven’t done a knitting update since the end of last year. Probably because progress is feeling rather sluggish. In reality, I think it’s just that knitting a large project that makes it feel that way.

So far this year, I’ve knitted the back of my Pineapple cardigan – apart from the moss stitch edge that happened last year…

…and almost finished the sleeves. I though I had finished on Sunday, but then  decided they needed another 6 rows. I’m getting a little jaded with these – they need to be soooo long for my orangutan arms, plus knitting them two at a time, makes it seem as if I’ve been knitting them forever.

I’ve done very little other knitting. I have worked on a new kit and, although I was pleased with my first attempt,  each time I refine it, I’ve made it worse not better. Currently on my fourth version.

I’ve did a very few rows knitted on my reversible scarf – which I already mention in my January UFO update.

Other than that, it’s been my handbag knitting. I’ve finished the leg of this sock…

There’s a few wrinkles in it, because the socks that fit my feet are too big for an average sock blocker. But who wants to be average?

And started the other one…

So although progress feels slow, reviewing what I’ve done tells me I’ve done a fair amount in the last six weeks 🙂

Reading back through my review I’m also thinking I should rename my blog The Knitting Giantess.

Dartmoor Sheep Socks Knitting Pattern

If you read my posts regularly, you’ll know I love to make up my own designs, but often procrastinate over writing the patterns up. You’ll also know I’ve been promising to write up my sheep sock pattern a for a while. So I’m delighted to tell you the Dartmoor Sheep Socks pattern is now up on Ravelry.  The link is here.

PHEW! Now I’ve done the sheep socks I’d better go off and tackle writing up the Heartfelt Cardigan.

Progress on my goals for 2018

Bet I’m not the only one saying ‘Wow! That month went quick!’ And since January’s come to an end, it’s time for me to review my progress on this year’s goals. Here’s how I’ve done…

Make a gift a least once a month on average

I made two gifts last month, one a two dog crochet hook/pencil case..

Bekki 1: UFOs 9

At the beginning of each year I always vow to get on top of my UFOs. Last year I did pretty well. In fact I thought I’d banished them all quite early in the year and stayed that way until the Autumn when the UFO count began to grow again. However, when I took stock of my UFOs at the being of this year, I discovered that I’d forgotten to count my sewing UFOs last year. Still that was fine. My problem with UFOs is their nagging draining my energy. If I don’t know I’ve got them then I’m happy for them to stay unfinished.

This year when I counted my UFOs I found nine… Continue reading “Bekki 1: UFOs 9”

How Do You Store Your Circular Needles?

I do most of my knitting on circular needles, but they have a terrible habit of tying themselves around each other and I’ve never found a satisfactory way of storing a large number of them. I’m currently keeping mine pegged together…

New Year, New project

Having felt too unwell to knit over Christmas, I finally picked my needles up again on Friday. Whilst I did technically start this project in November, swatching and knitting the back edging, I left it there since:

  1. I needed to finish Lovely Husband’s Christmas sweater.
  2. Lovely Husband’s Christmas sweater was on the needles I wanted to use.

I also admit, that although I’d been planning it a while, I couldn’t get much enthusiasm for it. However, I’ve been fully enthused since Friday and this is how far I’ve got…

Knitting Round-Up 2017

I’ve just been looking back through the knitting projects. In total I’ve knitted two sweaters – one is missing from the pics – one cardigan, two shawls, one curl, one shawlette, about a dozen Santa sacks, an egg cosy, a mini sweater, twelve Christmas puddings, four hats, four pairs of socks, two houses, a pair of mitts, seven hearts, four small sheep, one small hedgehog, one large hedgehog, a mouse and and a bowl of cacti. Most of these are in the pics below. Continue reading “Knitting Round-Up 2017”
