Why did the Anglo-Saxons invade Britain?
Lots of Anglo-Saxons were warriors who enjoyed fighting. They thought the people who lived in Britain were weak. They went to invade because they thought they would be easy to beat without the Romans around. and farm animals with them.
Saxons vs Vikings
Both groups of people were Germanic, and there were many similarities between Saxons who were later known as Anglo Saxons and the Vikings though the two belonged to different eras.
What was England called before England?
Albion, the earliest-known name for the island of Britain. It was used by ancient Greek geographers from the 4th century bc and even earlier, who distinguished “Albion” from Ierne (Ireland) and from smaller members of the British Isles.
