Sunday Sevens #16 2019

Welcome to my Sunday Sevens – a post where I share seven (or so) photos of my week away from the blog.

Last Sunday our great nephew came to visit…

The usual garden games of axe throwing, archery etc were abandoned in favour of more child friendly pursuits…

After our visitors left, we still needed to give Harry a second walk, so took a stroll to our local for a glass of wine to round off the day….

Last Sunday would also have been Mr Hick’s birthday, so we raised our glasses to him in the pub and lit a candle for him when we returned home…

With a mild week promised, I planned to spend the week getting on top of our wayward garden, so headed out Monday to make a start…

Harry might possibly be the world’s worst assistant gardener, either snoozing on my piece of carpet that I use for kneeling on….

Or sleeping right on top of the patch I want to weed….

Unfortunately my gardening efforts came to a standstill on Monday afternoon as I came down with some sort of bug that filled my brain with fog and left me feeling completely exhausted. I finally felt well enough again to venture out to knitting group Thursday evening..

Feeling much better Saturday we had a lovely walk along the river at Sticklepath.

Maybe not so easy to see in these pics, but the bluebells are really glorious this year and seem to be lasting a lot longer than usual…

We had planned to have lunch at the Taw River Inn, but there was an hour wait, so we drove home and back to our local for lunch in the garden…

Back home the week was finished off with some more gardening…

Hope you’ve had a great week.

Until next time,

  1. Oh, I like that you remembered dear old Hicks birthday and marked it and glad to hear you recovered your health quite quickly too. Lovely to think you didn’t risk damaging your young charge with the usual games – you look far too young to have a great anything in that photo – but I have to ask what are you wearing on your feet πŸ™‚

    1. How could we not? – he was such a special boy.
Thank you – yes, it was a weird poorliness, but short lived.
We were more worried about our charge harming us with the usual games πŸ˜‰
Thank you. I’m assured when can be incredibly young and still have great nieces/nephews and I’m choosing to believe that.
Ha ha! Yes, hubby was very quick to spot my feet when he saw that photo. They’re my slippers.

  2. I also noticed the slippers – I’m sure you’re not surprised by that.

I also noticed the strange accompaniment to your glass of wine. A crunchie? Really? πŸ™ƒ

A lovely way to remember Mr. Hicks who will, of course, forever be in your heart.

    Have a good week.

    1. Hello. Thanks for commenting.
I love it when they ‘help’ even when they’re trampling over or digging up my best plants. Like you say, wouldn’t be without them.
Our last dog – Mr Hicks – was a demon for the herb garden, so all my herbs ended up in pots. Harry’s very new to us, so just learning his favourites πŸ™‚

  3. Harry looks like a good helper. 🀣
Hugo and Slinky are always very interested when I try and do any gardening in the back yard too. They usually help by sunbathing.
    Glad your feeling better.
Happy Hicks memories to you. Xx

  4. What a lovely and busy week, except maybe for Harry, who was busy in his own way. Since napping is a “kind of busy” too for dogs I guess.
Thinking of Mr. H too. Hugs. xx
Nice to see the garden so stunning and green, and even happier to see you did not let the bug get to you, but kicked it out and are up and about already, enjoying the fresh outdoors.
Have a wonderful new week and take care.
    xxxx
