Sunday Sevens – 8th October

Joining in again this week with Sunday Sevens – started by Nathalie at Threads and Bobbins – sharing seven (or so) pictures of  the week beyond the blog.

This week I didn’t take a single picture until Wednesday evening, when we lost at the pub quiz – as usual 🙂

Thursday morning I took my fourth spinning class. I spun some of my Jacob roving for the first time and learned to make rolags…

On the way home I took a picture of the beautiful bridge that’s right outside where I learn to spin…

After spinning, I did the weekly shop and spotted these in the supermarket. Are they really back in again?

When I went to buy some beer, I spotted this. I’ve never seen it before,. Guessing it’s Mr Hicks way of reminding me he’s got his eye on me from somewhere.

Thursday was also book group. Our book was Italian Shoes by Henning Mankel. The majority of the group found the story sad, didn’t like any of the characters and had serious issues with the plot/lack of plot. However, the majority of us still enjoyed reading it, because the writing was strong, particularly the authors world building skills.

Saturday we spotted this while out walking. No idea what it is, but we liked the look of it.

We also spotted this bench, which made us smile.

Hope you’ve had a great week.

    1. It certainly was a steep hill. Ha ha! I didn’t see the poldark fudge was there until i put the photo up on the blog. Will have to look at it when I am next in that shop. There’s heaps of Poldark stuff in Cornwall, but it doesn’t usually creep over the boarder.

  1. I can still sing the Teletubbies theme tune off by heart – my girls were fans when they were tots – Playdays and the Tweenies also although I see Playdays finished in 1997 when they would only have been two and three and a half so maybe it was me that was the fan 😉
Any excuse to buy good beer and that one is definitely calling to you.
I always, for a second, think you’re talking about spinning exercise and it brings back painful memories.
Talking of books – as you were – did you ever finish The Essex Serpent? I seem to remember you weren’t keen at first and I’m reading it at the moment.

    1. You really should spend more time watching programmes made for people your own age 😉
I ended up running out of time before book group to read the Essex Serpent and it had just been on Book at Bedtime, so I ended up listening to that, but it was so abridged it was rubbish. The girls at book group were so enthusiastic about it, I did think I would try the book. So hopefully You will enjoy it. Let know.

  2. That bench seat – someone knew only too well that a rest would be needed after a climb that steep! How serendipitous to come across Hick’s beer – wonder if there’s a “Tess’ Tipple” or a “Fifi’s Fizz” somewhere out there?! Looks like a lovely spot to spend time spinning every week with a view like that.

    1. I’m amazed I haven’t seen it before, since it’s from St Austell Brewery and I always scour the shelf when I buy beer looking for interesting names to choose. If there isn’t a Tess Tipple or a Fifi’s Fizz you could start your own vineyard and make some 🙂

  3. Great week, and even better for coming across the beer. How very auspicious. 🙂
I love that bridge. And resting on that bench will mean you are never far from your partner. 🙂 Either one will always be sliding up to the other. What fun.
    Have a great new week.
