Knitting Loop (Loopy) Stitch YouTube Tutorial

A while ago I posted about being asked how to do the Loop Stitch that makes the coat in my Dartmoor Sheep kits. What I really wanted to do when the lady asked, was send her off to watch one of my You Tube video stitch tutorials. The only problem with that was I hadn’t made any. I didn’t even have a YouTube channel.

Well, all that’s changed. I’ve Β just made my first video tutorial. I don’t intend to make heaps of stitch tutorials, just ones relevant to the kits and patterns I write, so that people who buy them have a resource to show them stitches/techniques they don’t know. I thought I’d share the first one on my blog as I’d love to know what you think and if you have any advice or suggestions. If you’d be kind enough to like and/or subscribe to my YouTube channel I’d also be awfully grateful.

Thank you!

Here it is…

  1. Great stitch to add to the skill set. I’d suggest using a different color for your background. The red is a bit hard on the eyes and creates almost a halo effect. Perhaps a soft, medium grey? Also, if you could set the camera a little closer to your work, it would help in seeing all the motions. But otherwise, this is super. I like that you demonstrated the stitch several times and explained a possible issue (tension) and how to solve the issue.

    1. Hello. Thank you for all that. Very helpful. I resorted to red as I was struggling to find other plain colours and my table was too scabby. Hubby’s sanded the table down now, so I’m hoping to use that. I’ll definitely change that. The closeness of the camera has been bothering me too. I just can’t get my tripod any lower 😦

  2. Lovely to hear your voice!!
I was going to say the same thing about the red background.
Even so, I think you demonstrated it well and the stitch was fairly easy to see – I don’t think I’d have any problems following along.
The sheep was the star though πŸ˜‰

  3. That was your first ever video tutorial? You’re a natural!! I thought the whole thing was great. I could follow your instructions, see clearly all you were doing and didn’t even mind the red. If I was knitting at the moment I would feel most confident to do that stitch now without any further need to resort to your tutorial. Well done!

  4. That’s brilliant! Even I could follow it and I must be the most basic knitter out there. You made it really easy to understand, and like someone else said I can’t believe it’s your first video πŸ˜ƒ
