Sunday Sevens – 19th November

Joining in again this week with Sunday Sevens – the brainchild of Nathalie at Thread and Bobbins.

Last Saturday as we walked HRH through Lydford gorge, I was stung on the cheek by what I assume was a wasp. I took antihistamines the minute I got home  and although it swelled a little, it didn’t seem so bad Saturday evening…20161112_192137

However when I woke up Sunday morning it was quite swollen…

It continued to swell through the day, until my eye was virtually closed. Sorry, too vain to show you that one. My vision wasn’t quite right and it was too sore to wear my glasses anyway, so no driving and I sadly had to pull out of a stall I had booked at a local school fundraiser 😦

By Wednesday I was able to put my glasses back on and thought I would be able to drive a short distance to meet a friend for a dog walk. But when I tried to take my car out the battery completely gave up the ghost – which leads to this question? How many dogs can you get in a small Peugeot?

My lovely friend came to pick me up, so the two of us, plus these three plus Mr Hicks squeezed into her car. Thank goodness all four dogs have car harnesses.

This week’s technological challenge was set by us finally getting fibre optic broadband. Great to have faster internet plus the hub doesn’t now need resetting every time the phone rings. However, my printer kept looking for the old hub and there was no way of telling it to look for the new one.

On the technological successes, my sales website finally went live…

I also had a big wholesale order for sheep kits too, so lots of sheep kit making…

and, because I keep worrying about loosing my original sheep when I loan him out, I knitted two more sheep…

Weather-wise it’s been a bit soggy. Too cloudy to see the super moon on Monday, but lovely bright moonlit skies the rest of the week…

We  also had our first snow on Friday…

But this is as much as it settled…

And, despite all the wet weather, I don’t seem to have a picture of HRH in a puddle. So here he is, snuck off doing his own thing amongst the trees….

Hope you’ve had a good week.

  1. Ooh, that looks like a nasty bite – I hope it’s all better by now.
I’m trying to add to your sheep burden by ordering one for my sister’s birthday but I’m having problems paying! I’ll email you.

  2. Golly, your car must be jinxed! Four HUGE dogs in a Peugeot? That must’ve smelled nice and damp for a few days! As for fibre optic broadband – it’s been confirmed that we’re going to be amongst the 5% of the UK that isn’t going to get it. Our speed still runs in kilobytes rather than megabytes and is totally unusable when both of the men are working from home at the same time. They’re out now – so I’m making the most of it while I can:)

  3. I’ve found fibre optic so great and am really glad I decided to go that way. No more worrying about running out of data, as many users as this tiny house can hold and no issues with slowing down. The dogs in the car scenario sounds a hoot – and so nice to see Mr Hicks out and about doing his thing! Congrats on the sales too – your little business is flying – how great is that!!

    1. Thank you. Am very chuffed about the way things are going with the business – have lots of ideas about what I want to do next year, so, hoping I can sell enough to buy the resources I need. The dogs in the car were funny. Despite his grand age and everyone being much younger, Hick’s is still leader of the pack. He climbed in and staked his claim calmly over half the back seat while everyone else grumbled about having to share the boot and the rest of the back set.

    1. Sorry to hear you’ve had the same experience. Funnily enough I had one exactly in the same place about four years ago. It lasted a lot longer, although this one lasted long enough and there’s still a trace now 😦

    1. Thank you. As I said before, so lucky to get all the dogs looking at the same time. I was a little doubtful when my friend suggested we all get in and she was worried they’d overwhelm Hicks, but he he just staked his claim to a large space and they all respected it.

  5. Ouch, that looked very painful and uncomfortable. Take it easy.
Glad to see you were still able to get out for a dog walk, and that the online store is doing so well. Those sheep are adorable. Good thing you knitted more, they do like company. 🙂
Take care and stay warm and dry, winter is surely just around the corner now.
Hugs to all, specially Mr. H!!
