Sunday Sevens 16th January

Third Sunday of the year already! So time for another #sundaysevens. Sunday sevens was devised by the wonderful Nat at Thread and Bobbins for bloggers to share photos of their personal week…

  1. Last Sunday we had a lovely family lunch to celebrate both Mother in law and Father in law’s 80th birthdays, which both fall within the first few days of January. Unfortunately no girlies – with Lovey Eldest living it the Netherlands, she couldn’t make it back again so soon after Christmas/New Year and Lovely Husband cocked up communications with lovely youngest and she was signed up to some freelance work 😦

2. Being away at the weekend meant Monday was the first time I stood on the scales since I started dieting. Despite the celebrations at the weekend, I’d managed to loose a kilogram exactly. So in true 80s style I’m posting a pic of a 1kg bag of sugar to represent my weight loss…

3. On Wednesday we were pleased to  finally have a little bit of sunshine, after weeks of rain.

4. I was even more on delighted on Friday when it snowed…

5. Mr Hicks  and I went on the moor to enjoy the snow. The water level in the river he scared the life out of me crossing last week had fallen back to normal. What a difference a week makes…

7. But Mr Hicks had clearly learned his lesson and, for the first time in his life, insisted on using the bridge…

So, an overload of moorland photos, because, apart from a very sociable weekend, it’s been a very quiet week. Hope you had a good one whether it was busy or not.

  1. Congratulations on loosing a kg! I hope you’ve a spare corner somewhere for your little collection of sugar that you’re going to accumulate! Love the before and after pics if the river, and all the other moorland pics. 😃

  2. Congrats on the weight loss. I remember the good ol’ days when it was easier to lose what seems to be easier to gain these days. Love the pictures of the snow. We are still waiting for our first to fall. Maybe today? 👍 (why isn’t there an emoji with it’s fingers crossed?) Anyway, for me, snow is pretty and I enjoy the first snowfall but, after that I really dislike it.

    1. Thank you. It’s been lovely this time, snow on the moor only, so not travel problems. Unfortunately easier to gain weight than loose it these days too for me – but I have my head in the right place and the turbo trainer set up in the office. So fingers crossed the loss continues.

  3. Well done on your weight loss. I have been trying as well. I’m not weighing myself but taking a pic of myself in the same tight dress every sunday. Its getting looser! We have had some snow too. Its amazing how it transforms the world.X

  4. Your moor pictures are the best. I totally enjoy them. Its so very different from here in South Africa. I get to see your part of the world through your eyes, which is a lot of great fun. Love Mr. H, and so glad he is using the bridge rather, although the water is down and looks much safer now.
Congrats on the weightloss, looking at the bag of sugar puts it into perspective. 🙂
    Enjoy the new week.

    1. Thank you. Glad you’re enjoying the pics. You’re right the world is so different – it’s great to see what others take for Day to day. Dartmoor is so different to almost all of the rest of the UK, I have to keep reminding myself how lucky I am to live here. Mr H did come back through the river, because I went across the stepping stones, but there was no persuading him the first time that we didn’t need to use the bridge 🙂 Enjoy your week too

  5. Now that’s my kind of snow–enough to be pretty but not dangerous, then quickly gone before it can turn gray and nasty (yes, I have some opinions on the subject after living in Boston for a few years!) I’m kind of obsessing over the supposedly “grown in Britain” sugar, though; how do you even do that? In a really big greenhouse? And why? So many questions . . . .

  6. Hi Bekki! What a great week you’ve had. Happy birthday to your inlaws. 80 years is something wonderful to celebrate, for sure. (They look great, judging by the pictures. 🙂 ) And snow! I am a fan of that magical, fluffy kind of fun! I had to chuckle about Mr Hicks choosing the bridge for the first time. I guess the old saying is wrong… You can, in fact, teach an old dog new tricks. 😉 Have a wonderful week. Xo

    1. Hello! Thank you. I will let the in laws know. They indeed are doing very well. All in all it was a lovely week, even though I didn’t really do anything special after the weekend. Hope all is good with you. You have a great week too xx
