Sunday Sevens #51 (Me 6)

It’s Sunday again, so time for another #sundaysevens – the brainchild of Nat at Thread and Bobbins. Sunday sevens is seven photos that sum up your week, but aren’t enough for post of their own. This week I’ve bent the rules a little, as these photos are from our long weekend away, which spans the end of the week before as well as last week.

1. Friday before last we flew out to visit Lovely Eldest, who lives in the Netherlands, to celebrate my birthday. Lovely Littlest came over to join us and we had a fabulous family time with Lovely Eldest and Lovely Eldest’s Boyfriend being the perfect tour guides…

They hadn’t fallen out just couldn’t all fit on one table without getting in the way of cycle path.

2. Lovely Eldest’s apartment isn’t big enough for all of us, so while Lovely Littlest stayed with her, we stayed at the Eye Hotel. It was a fabulous place that used to be an eye hospital and has been recently refurbished to reflect that…

  1. Great set of photos, Bekki – and Happy Birthday! The Netherlands is so close, yet somewhere I’ve never been. Your photos show me how much we’re missing. What a wonderful, family weekend you had – and a lovely hotel as well. Lovely post. 🙂

      1. I really want to go, especially as I’ve not long finished reading a novel called ‘The Miniaturist'(historical one, of course). It was set in The Netherlands. The country really intriges me. Next year perhaps… You must know it quite well by now, with your daughter living there. Thanks for the great post. 😀

      2. Yes, book it! Sadly we haven’t been that often due to a few family ‘challenges’ we’ve had to deal with over the couple of years she’s been there – which means she’s been home more and she’s also been home for a lot of nice things too – like weddings – which has again stopped us going over so much.

      3. I can imagine how much you miss Lovely Eldest when she’s away, but at least The Netherlands isn’t too far away. It’s great that you can all get together for family events. My youngest son, Christopher, is rarely in the country. He’s always in different parts of the world, and we’re lucky if we see him twice a year. Naturally, I miss him like crazy. Hope next year is better for you, Bekki and those ‘challenges’ are now behind you. Take care.

      4. Thank you. Sorry to hear you don’t see so much of your son. Eldest is quite a traveller. She spent a year in Australia and 18 months in New Zealand. So we have got used to not see her so much and compared with those places she’s practically next door now. Although, yes, I still miss her heaps.

      5. Ah, so you know what I’m talking about. It’s hard when you’re used to seeing them so often, isn’t it? But we can’t hold them back in their ambitions in life. And yes, I’ll try really hard to do The Netherlands next year. I’ve heard so many people saying how much they love it there.

  2. Happy Birthday, Bekki! Great pictures – It looks like you had a wonderful time. Love the Eye Hotel, and the signs are very cute. Made me chuckle. Those bicycles look pretty nifty, don’t they? I always see one out near the lake, and have often thought… wouldn’t that be handy? One could carry all sorts of things in there, even do a substantial shopping trip (more than I can carry in my backpack for sure). I have to admit, though, I hadn’t thought of putting a dog in there – great idea! Haha! Have a great week!

    1. Thank you. Yes fab bikes. I’m definitely hankering after one. Although I think we need a bit less rain than we’ve had of late if I’m going to do the shopping every week with one ;-).
